  3. 6. Things to Know Preparation for Book Club and Writers’ Workshop is essential for class success. Love of literacy and writing for meaning are more important than counting reading log minutes and the number of words written, therefore….. Students have two 41 minute classes so homework is usually limited to finishing class work, preparing for the next day’s activities, or independent reading and writing. A PI student will have quality homework; not just more homework! Students will always have the choice to revise or edit any writing to be reviewed and graded again by the teacher. There will be some formal testing, but most assessments will be written papers or student-choice projects. These assessments are more challenging and involve analytical and critical thinking with good synthesis and writing techniques! Grades, participation, habits, behavior, and assessments will determine recommendations for Enriched Patterns at NCHS beginning NOW!
