  2. Monday - 4/9/12 Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will revise and edit chapter 3 of their novels. Assessment: Problem Solving Do Now, Exit Ticket Homework: Chapter 3 draft Typed and Revised Standard: Writing and Composition – III 2c, 2f, 3f

  3. Do Now: Complete the Newspaper Article

  4. Variations with Chapter 3 Your main character needs to make a choice They can do one action(story line) or another. This story line can lead to more actions later on, or be a dead end in the plot. Here’s where the set up of your novel is going to get tricky. Once your character makes a choice, the plot needs to be on a separate page ie If you want to go into the forest in search of the magical beans, turn to page 6, If you want to go to the jungle in search of magical tree vines, turn to page 9.

  5. Exit Ticket Hmm, I think I got it! What ways could your main character solve the problem in your story? Brainstorm at least three different ways.

  7. Do Now: Correct the two sentences.   8. Revise and Edit Variations chapter 3 Read your chapter 3 variations to your partner. Do they make sense? What do you like best? Are there elements of the plot you have questions about? Check CUPS (capitalization, usage, punctuation, spelling) Make changes and suggestions to their chapter 3.

  9. Exit Ticket Hmm, I think I got it! Did the editing practice help you to find mistakes easier? Did it remind you about the grammar rules when revising your chapter?

  25. Friday - 4/13/12 Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be given time to create illustrations for their novels. Assessment: Illustration for Chapter 2 Homework: Chapter 4/variations Standard: Writing and Composition – III 2c, 2f, 3f

  26. Gallery Walk – Look at Children’s book illustrations – spend 30 seconds at each picture, write down one thing you notice. Discuss as class and create your own illustration.

  27. Exit Ticket Hmm, I think I got it! What illustration stood out to you the most? What did you like most about it?
