Introduction • Thesis & Dissertations are unique sources of valuable information • Contain innovative ideas & solutions thus adding new knowledge to the pool of primary sources • Involves collaborative work of researchers & faculty • Providing easy & wider access is important • Institutions, national & international organizations have initiated ETD • In India UGC has issued regulations & notifications • INFLIBNET is coordinating efforts at national level

Overview of a Study of Identification of Indicators • Background • Had 48 indicators listed in the form of statements • 33 out of 40 experts responded on 1-5 scale • 1 point standing for least importance & 5 points standing for highest importance • Objective • To find out most important success indicators • To list indicators according to the ratings based on experts’ opinion • Outcome • Indicators ranked on basis of their importance • Ranks allotted to indicators corresponding to highest ratings

To sum up… • Number of ETD initiatives have come up at national & international level • More institutions are yet to join these initiatives • Collection of ETD has to grow • To make ETD initiatives to be successful, number of indicators are to be considered • Study presented lists some of the most important ones • These success indicators can be considered as startup factors with required modifications
