  1. Swedish RatingSystem The Swedish Sailing Federation rating system for club racing

  2. Aim • To give different typesofboats a possibilityto race together • SRS is aimed at all typesofboats; keelboatsof all types and shapes, dinghies and multihulls • SRS is a club level system and SSF does not endorseitsuse on championshiplevel regattas • SRS is-Simple-Permissive-Empirical

  3. Simple • The core of SRS is the standard boat rating list and the accompanying boat data sheets • Abt. 70% of the SRS users are standard boats that race without measurement, administration and cost • The remaining 30% are SRS-certificates based on self measurement

  4. Permissive • It is a fundamental policy that SRS shall not influence the development of boats and equipment • SRS-certificates can be issued for boats not listed in the standard rating lists or boats that deviate from the standard configuration. • There are no built in limitations on the number and/or type of sails or other equipment that a boat with SRS-certificate can have but everything is listed on the certificate and rated.

  5. Empirical • The methods used for determining the SRS-rating and the grounds for including a boat type on the standard rating list are proprietary and not public. The method contains empirical and subjective elements. • Aim:To avoid that boats are designed and optimized for racing under SRS.To ensure that you are competitive with a normal boat and a normal set of sails.

  6. Developments for 2011 • SRSv(erified) is being introduced in 2011measurements including boat weight verified by a licensed measurerSails certified by measurer or sailmaker with inhouse measurement license • The purpose of SRSv is to provide a “stepping stone” towards the international systems
