  3. What do you know about Abraham Lincoln? • Where have you seen him? • Why is he important? • Where did he grow up? • Do you know what number President he was?

  4. Look at this picture and fill out your KWL. Only fill in the KW with us on the board. We will fill in the L after our trip to New Salem State Park. Abraham Lincoln

  6. After completing your daily oral math, look closely at a problem Abe may have had at his store. Try to develop a problem using the vocabulary during pioneer times. IE. Shillings, silk, sugar, cents, ginger. When you have finished create a problem and have a partner solve it. Daily Oral Math

  7. War has been a part of American history since the Revolutionary War to the War in Iraq. Abraham Lincoln had his thoughts on the war. Following our discussion, write your thoughts about the War in Iraq in the form of a quote on the envelope provided. We will put them on the bulletin board when you are finished. War Time

  8. Look at the map of the original New Salem settlement. Following our discussion, write in your journal how growth and development can change a location over time. New Salem Map Skills!!!

  9. Current Day New Salem!!! Use the map to find your way around New Salem Landmarks. Remember to fill out your Scavenger Worksheet! Have Fun!!
