  3. Warm up • Read through the excerpt from the Declaration of Independence. • Use the right hand column to add notes/write questions.. Attempting to analyze the document. • Once finished, answer the following questions in your notebook • 1. What are our unalienable rights? • 2. How are these rights preserved? • 3. What do you think consent of the governed means? • 4. When can people abolish the government? • 5. Why are the colonists rebelling against Great Britain? • 6.Why was the Declaration of Independence created?  What events lead up to  the creation of this document?

  7. Your assignment… • The purpose of this project is to learn about the major events  That led up to the American Revolution. Your group will be focusing on researching and presenting the topic assigned to you. • You must include the following information in your  presentations:  • The year the event occurred  • Definition/explanation of the event (1 paragraph) • Describe what the impact of the event was and/or how Colonists  • reacted to the event (1 paragraph) • Images

  8. Your grade… • 5 points- works well with group • 10 points- information provided • 5 points- presentation • 5 points- behavior during presentations • 10 points- timeline filled out • 10 points- 1 page response /45 points total

  9. Presentations… • BE RESPECTFUL • Eyes on the presenter • You are not talking • Head up! • Draw a timeline in your notebook, add to it the events as we go through and major details about each.

  10. 1 Page Response • Reread the section of the Declaration of Independence from the warm up • What were some of the “injuries and usurpations” that were discussed in the Declaration of Independence? • Why did the colonists feel it was necessary to  rebel from England and create a new government?
