  2. CARIBBEAN CARIBBEAN

  3. The Caribbean is a subregion of the Americas consisting mainly of a chain of over 700 islands and islets surrounding the Caribbean Sea. It is located southeast of the Gulf of Mexico. This tropical areait is threatened by annual hurricanes, whose season lasts from June to November. The main hurricane belt stretches northwest of the island of Barbados in the eastern Caribbean. Approximately 8 % of the world's coral reefs are located in the region. The staple crop grown in the Caribbean is sugar cane. Tourism began to develop at the beginning of the 20th century and accelerated in the 1960s with the development of air transport. The natural environmental diversity of the Caribbean islands has led to an increase in ecotourism. Through several sets of photos, we will look at the most famous islands of the region. Karibik je subregión Ameriky tvorený prevažne reťazou vyše 700 ostrovov a ostrovčekov obklopujúcich Karibské more.
