  • Q: Choose a FIFA World Cup Competition to research and communicate when and where the competition was held. Communicate this in your introduction.
  • A: I choose to do the 1998 FIFA world cup tournament because that was the year I was born in and it’s that I’ve always wanted to do an assignment about France. This match was on 12 July 1998, in Stade de France.
  • Q: Who were the finalists, who won, include the score.
  • A: France, who beat Brazil 3-0 in the final, won the tournament. France won their first title, becoming the seventh nation to win a World Cup; this was the first FIFA World Cup in which 32 teams competed at the finals. The official match ball was the Adidas Tricolore.
scoring sequence
Scoring Sequence

Q: What was the scoring sequence and who scored?

A: Zinedine ZIDANE (FRA) 27:00, Zinedine ZIDANE (FRA) 45:01, Emmanuel PETIT (FRA) 90:03

Q: Choose 1 of the goals and describe using Football terminology the sequence of play leading up to the goal.

A: I liked the first goal Zidane scored because it had really nice techniques. & It was the most entertaining goal throughout the game.

Q: What could the defense have done to more effectively try and stop the goal being scored?

A: The defense gave up when they saw Zidane next to the goal and was trying to score. Some of them weren’t even next to the goal, so that’s why it was easy for Zidane to score.

Q: Using the same scoring sequence what individual skills have been used by the attacking team?

A: France’s goalie is amazing. His one of the best goalies I know. That helped a lot and the defenders were doing their job in the game and more. They tried their best to stop the Brazilians from scoring.

Movement off the ball

Q: Was there any movement ‘off the ball’ by other attackers to draw defenders away from the goal scorer? If yes what happened and what was the effect of this?

A: Yes, when Zidane tried to score a goal his team were doing the drizzles move to get up to the goal. Until they finally reached and Zidane scored the goal.
