  1. 6.1 Using AMO • After this class, you will be able to: • Install AMO • Use search feature in AMO • Look up record details in AMO • Result inspections in AMO • Generate inspection report in AMO • Use routing in AMO • Sync in AMO • Use the GIS map within AMO

  2. 6.1 Using AMO What is AMO? AMO stands for Accela Mobile Office. AMO is an add-on product for inspectors to use while out in the field. Inspectors can use AMO to view maps, research record information, view electronic plans associated to the record, review fees and workflow, and most importantly, record inspection results and generate inspection reports. AMO is different from V360 because you do not access the software from a web browser. AMO is actually a separate piece of software that is installed on the users’ laptop, tablet, other mobile device, or even a desktop computer. AMO uses the “store and forward” technology that allows the software to be used without having an active internet connection, which is helpful in rural areas where there is limited internet connectivity. AMO is only compatible with Windows XP or Windows 7. AMO is not compatible with iOS (Apple products). AMO cannot be installed on a smart phone or iPad.

  3. 6.1 Using AMO • System Requirements • Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows 7 • Microsoft .NET Framework version 4.0 • Optional: ESRI ArcGIS Engine 10 for offline mapping • Crystal Report Runtime and Microsoft Report Viewer for creating and viewing reports • Requires an Accela mobile license

  4. 6.1 Using AMO Logging in for the first time Important information must be completed the first time a user logs into AMO so that it will connect with the Automation servers. See document titled, “Logging into AMO.pdf”

  5. 6.1 Using AMO Settings As soon as logging into AMO for the first time, the Settings dialogue box will open up and prompt the user to complete Profile information. Note: The Profile information is important to complete in AMO because it will display on AMO inspection reports.

  6. 6.1 Using AMO Syncing and “Store and Forward” Synching Syncing is the process of downloading information from Automation to the mobile device. Syncing also populates the Job List. The syncing process will happen automatically as soon as the user logs in. Syncing will repeat every 30 minutes by default. But the schedule can be adjusted, per user. An active internet connection is required in order to sync. Be sure to sync before leaving for the field to populate the Job List. *Note: Syncing will not upload changes made to inspections, records, etc. It only downloads. Store and Forward “Store and Forward” is off-line functionality that allows AMO to be used out in the field without an active internet connection. “Store and Forward” can be leveraged by syncing (download) first thing in the morning in the office, saving the information on the mobile device throughout the day, then Submitting changes (upload) upon return to the office at the end of the day.

  7. 6.1 Using AMO • Job List • The Job List displays a list of the inspections that need to be completed. It acts as a to-do list for the day. Job Lists are unique to each individual inspector. • GIS can be used for populating a route sheet for the Job List. • Your Job List is defined by queries that download records from Automation to your mobile device during the sync process. • There are 3 default queries that populate the Job List: • Manually Select Jobs • Records with outstanding inspections that are selected in the record list or selected on the GIS map • Inspections Due Today • Inspections that are assigned to you and are scheduled for the current date • Work Due Today • (For asset management – not inspections) • Other custom queries can be easily created and used to populate the Job List.

  8. 6.1 Using AMO • Save, Submit, and Transaction Log • “Store and Forward” functionality allows information to be saved to the mobile device without having an active internet connection. Once an internet connection becomes available, the changes made can be submitted, or uploaded to Automation. Then the information is available for everyone else to see in V360 (the back office) and in ACA. The Transaction Log tracks all items that are submitted to Automation and should be reviewed for accuracy. • Save button: Saves data changes locally on the mobile device. • Submit button: Uploads data changes to the Automation servers for everyone else to see. • Transaction Log: Tracks all data changes that are uploaded.

  9. 6.1 Using AMO Read Only Inspections Once an inspection is resulted and the changes have been submitted to the Automation servers, the inspection becomes read only.

  10. 6.1 Using AMO Searching for Records There are times when you will need to search for other information that is not included in your job list. You can search for records, inspections, and parcels under the “Records” tab. Remember to use the “Advanced” option to search for records that have not been downloaded to your mobile device during the Sync process.

  11. 6.1 Using AMO Syncing Adjust Sync schedule and be sure to check “Every time custom data manually synchronized.”
