What do you use web based technologies for? • Communicate – informally MSN replaces the phone • Collaborate – working things out, arranging meetings and activities • Research – we think we can phrase a question, know how to use, information literacy, work it out for themselves • Resources for courses, catch up when absent, podcasts video, informal way of doing things • Producers - we can create our own content and make it available • Progress – see how we are doing • For students with disabilities ie Deaf • Helps access • See person not disability • Web cams for signing

How well are digital technologies used formally in learning at the campus? • In some subjects we expect them to use • In most subjects we are expected to switch off mobile phones • We only have access mainly to PC/Internet • We know there are issues around using other technologies, for example: security • We know these technologies can involve students more in their learning • We think that digital technologies are very useful tools to support our learning and that more use could be made by the Campus of both digital and web-based technologies in our learning.

What risks are you aware of about using digital technologies? • We are aware of the current issues around using digital technologies such as identity theft • We know untrue and unpleasant things can be said about you without your consent or knowledge • We think we what to do when you find inappropriate • Mainly IT students know more, but what about the rest of the students? • Parents know less than we do.
