  1. LINCS Vocabulary Flashcards Front of the card (side without lines) This is where you’ll write the signal word, a word or phrase to help trigger some personal association with the vocab word. Signal words can come from: • famous people/places/things • Personal connections • Mnemonic devices • Related words (like PB always goes with J) • Foreign languages • Slang • Song lyrics This is where you’ll write the vocab word brawl Broad Street Bullies Back of the card (side with lines) This is where you will write a sentence, modeling appropriate usage after an example in a book or dictionary if possible. Noun: a noisy quarrel or fight Verb: to fight or quarrel noisily The babysitter began to be concerned when the children’s playing sounded more like a brawl. This is where you will write the meaning of the word, taking care to include multiple definitionsif the word has more than one part of speech or usage This space is reserved for an illustration that represents the word in some way. Stick figures are always welcome!!
