SPONGE • Complete Grammar for Writing Workbook page 7, #11-20. • Homework: • Due Tomorrow!!: • Choose your partners wisely. • You will work in a group of up to 4 students to create a 12-question quiz. • Each student is to create at least 3 questions for the quiz. (Divide the questions equally among yourselves.) • You must also create a key. You will have to write a 3+ sentence justification of the right answers. (Quiz Grade)

EQ:How do I put all the pieces together to understand how to create a strong essay? • ELACC8W1: Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence. • ELACC8SL4: Present claims and findings, emphasizing salient points in a focused, coherent manner with relevant evidence, sound valid reasoning, and well-chosen details; use appropriate eye contact, adequate volume and clear pronunciation. • ELACC8L1: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. • ELACC8L6: Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression. • ELACC8W4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. • ELACC8W5: With some guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach, focusing on how well purpose and audience have been addressed.

Create-A-Quiz Checklist • Due Tomorrow!!: • Does your quiz have 12 questions? • Have you divided the questions evenly among yourselves? • Is the name of the student who wrote each question next to that question? • Did you create a key? • Is there a 3+ sentence explanation of the correct answers? • Remember, this is a quiz grade!

  5. WORK PERIOD: Review of the Writing Process • Prewrite • Brainstorm your ideas • Draft • Rough Draft • Revise • Add some swag • Edit • Clean up the edges • Publish • Share your finished product!

Work Period • Today and tomorrow you will work on completing an essay. • Today, you will just need to brainstorm on the topic below. • Remember, you will need this for class tomorrow! • TOPIC: Each of you possess some of the qualities for a successful President of the United States.  Regardless of whether or not you were born here, write an essay persuading the adults of the United States to vote for you for President.  Be sure to explain at least three qualities you possess that would make you strong at the job.
