  2. The volunteer value • The expertise, interests, skills and life experiences of volunteers in the nine county region are essential to shaping fun and enriching leadership experiences for girls in Eastern Pennsylvania, and inspiring them to reach their personal best.

  3. The volunteer value • As a Girl Scout volunteer, you bring the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience to life for girls and are critical to the program’s success. Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania is dedicated to helping volunteers learn about purposeful leadership and reach their highest potential as they facilitate the New Leadership Experience. You will take advantage of professional development by attending workshops facilitated by volunteers and be given all the support you need to make a difference in a girl’s life.

The New Girl Scout Leadership Experience • Is the world’s best leadership experience that defines activities and outcomes, differentiated by grade level, for girls from kindergarten through high school, and offers flexible pathways for participation. • Keeps us focused on our core mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

  8. New Leadership Journeys • Help us transform Girl Scouting and guide girls through their new leadership journeys as they become courageous, confident leaders of the future.

  9. What is a journey? A journey has a beginning and an ending. As we travel the distance between the two, we learn and grow! A national Girl Scout journey offers girls: • An invitation to explore the three keys to leadership • A chance to reflect on what they learn • Fun and challenges

A national Girl Scout journey offers volunteers: • How-to guides, which explainhow the leadership experience ties to the outcomes • Specific examples that show how to use theGirl-Led, Cooperative Learning, andLearning by Doingprocesses • Tips and encouragement for easy participation in fun and purposeful experiences with girls

  11. Girl Scout Pathways • Girl Scout Pathways—the ways that girls and adults participate in Girl Scouting—offer girls a wonderful opportunity to experience Girl Scouting through one or more of the six proposed pathways.

Events Different girls, each event PROPOSED Girl Scout Pathways for Girls Special Interest Same girls, all sessions relating to a specific theme or purpose Camp Day and Resident Camps, focus on out-of-doors and/or environmental, outdoor education Virtual High-quality, interactive program; safe, secure, online environment Travel Regional, national, and international trips Passport (Multipathway participation allowed) Troops Same girls, all sessions; typically spans of the length of a school year

  13. Pathways Criteria Events Special Interest Travel Troops Virtual Camp • Be mission-driven • Align to the New Girl Scout Leadership Experience • Adhere to the Blue Book of Basic Documents 2006 and Safety-Wise • Be relevant and accessible to all girl and adult populations

  14. Pathways Criteria Events Special Interest Travel Troops Virtual Camp • Provide opportunities for continuous involvement • Support volunteers through the Single-Entry System (SES) and volunteer structures • Provide consistent volunteer learning opportunities (training)
