  2. Forward • In the first semester of the year 2011/2012 the Respected University Administration gave the green light for establishing a Teaching & Learning Center in PSU based on the NCAAA recommendations and the proposal submitted by the TL Committees

  3. Third Year • First Year 2012/2013 • Second Year 2013/2014 • This is our third Year

  4. Institutional • The TLC is an Institutional Entity like the AAPC and PSRTC • All faculty are naturally members of the center • TLC is a facilitator

  5. Vision To be one of the leading Teaching and Learning Centers in the region with the ability to provide consultation and guidance to all interested institutions.

  6. The MISSION Promote best teaching practices and facilitate effective learning through an environment that encourages innovation and provides technological support for blended learning and modern pedagogy

  7. EASY? • Our mission is easy to achieve because the stakeholders are smart highly qualified intellectuals • Just send a signal and everybody provides his best

  8. Difficult? Difficult to achieve because we have to meet the high expectations of our smart stakeholders and – of course the expectations of PSU administration

  9. Organizational Structure

Objectives • Foster a culture that increasingly values effective teaching • Expose faculty to new pedagogical approaches that will lead to greater efficiency, better student learning, and a more satisfying teaching experience • Encourage pedagogical innovation • Develop and disseminate models of teaching that foster student learning

  11. Objectives Encourage collaboration and peer exchange of knowledge and experience and provide a venue for faculty to gather to learn new approaches to learning and teaching from one another

  12. Objectives • Promote best practices • Promote a community of practice through a variety of collaborations across the university which can lead to further innovative teaching practices, e.g. conducting university wide events on teaching effectiveness

  13. Objectives • Evaluate and measure the implementation of emerging technologies, evidence-based pedagogy, and the latest research on learning, engagement, and instructional innovation. • Establish an annual monitoring system of the center (like an audit).

  14. Objectives • Introduce e-learning and related technologies to improve the standards of Teaching and Learning • Provide sufficient opportunities for training of online development so that all faculty who desire to teach online will be trained. • Promote the understanding of criteria and methods for student assessment

  15. The Role of Academic Programs & Units • The TLC is a facilitator and Coordinator for best practices and activities • The real work takes place at the college and program levels • The “Unit Representatives” represent the main link between the TLC and the respective Academic Units.

  16. College & Unit Representatives • As expected, all units are represented in the TLC • This time the representatives will be highly involved in the implementation and dissemination of Teaching & Learning policies and practices
