The winner is he/she who gives himself/herself to his/her work, body, and soul.” • As we get closer to the STAAR test, are you giving it your all – listening and working in class? Remember, you don’t have to be the smartest to pass but the hardest worker can pass the STAAR test.

  3. Lifeguards to the Rescue • Pg. 156- Underline – Jade groaned as she……This much trouble (First paragraph) • What detail in the underlined paragraph created a problem for Jade?

  4. Answer • She almost regretted signing up as a lifeguard

  5. Pg. 157 • Underline – Lifeguard training turned……the huge manual. (1st paragraph) • Underline- The whole class turned and stared..attention during class.(4th paragraph) • Which underlined sentence best describes a problem? (1st) • What problem did Jade have in the underlined paragraph? (4th)

  6. Answers • Lifeguard training turned out to be a lot harder than anyone expected. • She’s embarrassed because she blushed and tried to turn invisible.
