  7. Treasurer’s Report Wotton under Edge HC – AGM 2014

  8. Men’s 1st XI Report • Captain: Neil Curtis • Player of the Year: James Cruickshank • Leading Scorer: Ryan Howarth • Highlights • Finished the season in 5th with 33 points compared to 29 the previous season. • Goal difference was considerably better with +13 compared to -8 previous season • New/returning players have been embedded within the team, • Younger talented players getting their debuts, (Patteson & Mike Buist who is now an established player within the team at 15) • Training has been very competitive, with increased attendance big thanks to Matt Fairburn and the new pitch • Issues/Challenges • Keeping the large squad happy, with players floating between the teams. • Keeping a consistent team each week Wotton under Edge HC – AGM 2014

  9. Men’s 2nd XI Report • Captain: Stuart Emms • Player of the Year: Charlie Thomas • Leading Scorer: Ed Sonnex • Highlights • An excellent season ‘into the unknown’ after being moved sideways into different division • Younger players integrated into regular starts in senior hockey and were key/trusted members of squad • Returning former members and surplus 1st XI players made for a strong squad • Outstanding home record and defensive record. • Issues/Challenges • Very few issues this year • Going forward selection will be a ‘hot topic’ and managing expectations in this area will be key Wotton under Edge HC – AGM 2014

  10. Men’s 3rd XI Report • Captain: Alan Hooper • Player of the Year: Joss Bealey • Leading Scorer: Jago Cropper • Highlights • Fielded a full team every week, without raiding Badgers! • Good fighting spirit despite a very tough start to League competition for most players • Willingness of some senior players to "drop down" and lend stability • Issues/Challenges • Used 35 players, very little week-to-week consistency • Balancing junior development and providing a game for all club members • Failure to transfer coaching to match performance • Good results all relied on attacking threat from non-regular squad members Wotton under Edge HC – AGM 2014

  11. Ladies 1st XI Report • Captain: Cathy York • Player of the Year: Jasmin George • Leading Scorer: Jasmin George • Highlights • Great first half of the season, unbeaten and top of the league • Issues/Challenges • Poor second half of the season • Small squad Wotton under Edge HC – AGM 2014

  12. Ladies 2nd XI Report • Captain: Corinna Whitear • Player of the Year: Ming Green • Leading Scorer: Corrine Gibson • Highlights • Season of consolidation in 2nd year of league hockey • Young players coming through from Vixens • Issues/Challenges • Occasionally played with reduced squad but a strong base of players Wotton under Edge HC – AGM 2014

  13. Badgers (Boys U16s) Report • Player of the Year: Ash Langham • Leading Scorer: Matt Jenkins • Highlights • Potentially challenging year with a young team (many of the other u16s being fast-tracked into seniors) BUT a very good second half of the season & beyond expectations • Good coaching, well managed, parent support • Issues/Challenges • Providing talented players with pathway into senior hockey while retaining badgers momentum with ‘next wave’ of juniors Wotton under Edge HC – AGM 2014
