  1. Major Battles of the Civil War By: Ansley & Arianna

  2. Fort Sumter Fort Sumter was the first major battle of the Civil War. It took place in Charleston, South Carolina. It began on April 12,1861.The south won this battle. President Abraham Lincoln was the president of the United States Of America (USA).President Lincoln called for 75,000 soldiers to fight the rebellion. Jefferson Davis was the president of the Union (Confederate States).

  3. The Battle Of Bull Run • The Battle of Bull Run took place on July 1-3, 1861. The setting was in Manassas, Virginia. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson was in the war. The Confederate won the war.

  4. The Battle of Gettysburg The Battle of Gettysburg took place on July 1-3, 1863. Gettysburg took place in Gettysburg, PA. The north won this battle.

  5. Appomattox Courthouse It took place on April 9,1865. Grant and Lee met here for Lee to surrender.

  6. Sherman March to the Sea From the ATL to Savannah. The North won the battle/March.

  7. Atlanta Campaign • Sherman began his attack on Atlanta in May 1864. Union soldiers marched to GEORGIA. The Confederate fought back all summer. Sherman’s larger army captured Atlanta ion September 1864. Sherman typed a message to President Lincoln by telegraph. Telegraphs are used to send signals over wires. Here's what Sherman’s message said “Atlanta is ours, and fairly won.”

  8. This is General Robert E Lee He was a brilliant general. He defeated larger army’s. He used all of his skill to fight off Grant’s army.

  9. This is Ulysses .S. Grant Ulysses .S. Grant was a general for the Union states. Lincoln made him commander of all Union Armies.

  10. Union and Confederate States • The Union were abolitionist . And the Confederate wanted slavery. The Union won 6 wars. The Confederate won 2.

  11. Woops! We forgot someone. Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was elected 16th president in 1861.He served president until 1865.(4 years) He was a republican. He was married to first lady, Mary Todd Lincoln.
