  1. MAGLEV TRAINS COMPILERS: SANJAY KUMAR BHAVIN PATEL SHITAL MUSALE KAVITA SURATI

  2. The Maglev Train History In the 1960s in Britain Eric Laithwaite developed a functional maglev train

  3. The Maglev Train • Maglev is a short for Magnetic Levitation. • The Maglev Train uses magnets to reach a really high velocity.

  4. THE MAGLEV TRAIN • The Maglev Train is one of the fastest transport media in the whole world. • The maximum speed reached for a Maglev train has been 581 km\h

  5. WORKING OF MAGLEV TRAIN

  6. COMPONENTS OF MAGLEV TRAINS • A large electrical power source • Metal coils lining a guideway or tracks • Large guidance magnets attached to the undersigned of the train

  7. GUIDEWAY • The magnetized coil running along the track, called a guideway, repels the large magnets on the train's undercarriage, allowing the train to levitate between 0.39 and 3.93 inches (1 to 10 cm) above the guideway.

  8. Once the train is levitated, power is supplied to the coils within the guideway walls to create a unique system of magnetic fields that pull and push the train along the guideway.

  9. The electric current supplied to the coils in the guideway walls is constantly alternating to change the polarity of the magnetized coils.

  10. It works like this

  11. TYPES OF MAGLEV TECHNOLOGY

  12. ELECTROMAGNETIC SUSPENSION It uses the attractive magnetic force of a magnet

  13. ELECTRODYNAMIC SUSPENSION It uses a repulsive force between two magnetic feilds

  14. ADVANTAGES OF MAGLEV TRAIN • Maglev train is luxurious mode of transport • Maglev train has high speed, so it is time saving

  15. ADVANTAGES OF MAGLEV TRAIN • Maglev trains are many times safer than any other means of transport • A accident between two maglev trains is nearly impossible because the linear induction motors prevent trains running in opposite directions.

  16. APPLICATION • Maglev trains can be used to eventually link cities which are 1600km apart . Eg: We can travel from MUMBAI to DELHI in 3 hours.

  17. The Maglev Train and Society • Maglev can transport larger number of people far more efficiently in large urban areas • They want it to be something that anyone can use.

  18. The Maglev Train and Environment • The Maglev train doesn’t contaminate a lot. • It doesn’t need any kind of fuel. • It doesn’t send out any CO2.

  19. The Maglev Train and Culture • The Maglev Train has helped the people in some countries to think better about the travel by train.

  20. MAGLEV TRAIN AND FUTURE • Can maglev trains be adopted by developing nations • Can maglev train have more than one station • Is maglev train safe for all passengers • Can maglev train overcome bullet train
