You will be assigned a group For each rule, on a blank piece of paper write down what it looks like when students are following each rule Be prepared to write on the chart paper What? (10 minutes) • C – Talking with peers in group • H – Raise hand • A – describing and defining class rules • M – moving into groups • P – discussing class rule with peers, writing top results on poster

  8. Activity: Class rewards How? You will be assigned a group On a blank piece of paper, draw a line down the middle and label the left as individual and the right as class. The top section is what you want to be recognized with, the bottom with what you want to be recognized for. What? Rituals Arrival and Do Now Tardy Arrival You are tardy if… You are not in your seat when the bell rings You do not have a pen/pencil when the bell rings You are not ready to begin the Do Now when the bell rings Enter silently, pick up handouts and notebook and find your seat. • Pick up any handouts for the day • Get your interactive notebook • Find your seat • Place homework on your desk • Begin the Do Now, if available • When the bell rings, your task is the Do Now

  14. Rituals Hall Passes Cell Phones Simple: Put them away. If something comes up, you need to make arrangements with me. I will tell you if you need them. • Cost 2 tickets…you will start with 2 free tickets • No passes issued the first or last 15 minutes of the period • No passes issued during instruction • In the hallway you will need your agenda (pass)

  17. This year, 100% of students will pass the district EOC with the skills necessary to be effective note-takers. Rewards • Group • Team with most points earns plus 5% at close of quarter • Class • Marbles earned (or removed) • Silence during individual activities • 100% participation in group/lab activities • 100% of class actively participating in taking notes and utilizing their interactive journals. • 100% of class arrives on time, with appropriate materials (i.e. pencil, pen, paper, previous night’s work, etc.) • Highest class average on unit test, CGA, Diagnostic.
