  2. Ethan Allen • Born in Connecticut (1738) • Served in a militia during the French and Indian War. • Leader of the Green Mountain Boys out of Connecticut and Vermont (assisted by the New Hampshire Grants.) • One of Vermont’s Founding Fathers. • Arrogant, self-glorifying leader.

Benedict Arnold • Born in Connecticut (1741) • Fought as a Colonel on behalf of the Massachusetts Committee of Safety to the Continental Army during the American Revolution. • Traitor, surrendered West Point to the British. • Quick to attack, capable leader, recognized by his peers as a “great military man.”
