  3. MSU criminology degree focuses on: • Crime/victimization types, trends, & patterns • The motivations & social causes of crime/ victimization • The correlates of crime (race, gender, class, age, context) • Social & Legal Reponses to crime/victimization • Social • Legal • Policies/programming

  4. Career Options with a Criminology Degree • Justice related fields including: law enforcement; probation and parole; community based prevention and control programs; court based programs; and corrections. • Help seeking fields including: substance abuse counseling, drug abuse treatment facilities, victim service agencies. • Post-graduate studies in Sociology, Criminology, and Law and Legal Studies.

  7. Internship Elective • Available to students who have completed 24 hours, have over a 2.5 GPA, and are selected by the internship coordinator. • 6 credit hour internship (150 contact hours with the agency) ONLY in summer. • Contact me if you plan to do an internship the next semester for specific details.

  8. Senior Thesis Elective • Available for students who have completed a minimum of 24 hours, have at least a 3.0 GPA • Students who qualify and have an interest in the senior thesis option will work individually with a faculty member to produce a research paper on approved topic in criminology. • Designed for students wishing to pursue graduate school or law school.

  9. Transfer Credit • ONLY 2 courses will count from community college in the major. One will be the introduction course. • CRM 1003 • One elective

  12. Pre-Registration • PLEASE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PRE-ADVISING! Mid-October • Come with a plan – it may not be perfect but it will help us help you. • Taking care of your holds. • Don’t change your schedule without speaking to your advisor.
