  2. Thomas Jefferson • Thomas Jefferson was an anti-federalist. • He was born on April 13, 1743. • Thomas was the third president of the United States. • He later died on July 4, 1826.

The Louisiana Purchase • Budget for the purchase was originally 10 million, but they spent 15 million for Louisiana. • The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the United States, and stretched from the Mississippi River to the Rocky Mountains. • Fought Toussaint L’Ouverture to recapture Saint Dominique and lost during the Louisiana Purchase. • And they then were hit with a deadly outbreak of the yellow fever during this time. • On October 20, 1803 The Louisiana Purchase ended.

  4. Marbury V.S. Madison Case • President Jefferson was concerned that federalist judges dominated the federal court system. • He tried to appoint Republicans to any open judicial spot available. • The supreme courts decision in the Marbury V.S. Madison case surprised many people including Jefferson. • They agreed that Marbury had a legal right to his judgeship.
