Welcome to the 7th Grade!
Welcome to Team 7A! • My name is Ms. Vanessa Douglas • I am an Arizona native and grew up in the small towns of Bisbee and Sierra Vista. • I graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Elementary Education. • This will be my first year at Altadena and I am excited to be here. • My goal is to help you think critically, scientifically, and creatively in order to solve problems and answer questions about the world around you.
7th Grade Science Grading Policy 80% Assessments – tests, quizzes, class labs, or projects. 20% Class work, homework, and notebook checks. Late Work Policy Homework may be turned in 1 day late for 50% credit. Homework will not be accepted if more than 1 day late and a zero will be given. Projects will have 10% deducted for each day late up to 5 days. A zero will be given on day 6. Absent Policy You will have 1 day for each day missed to turn in assignments.

4th Quarter Geology • Classify rocks and minerals • Layers of the Earth (core, mantle, crust) • Erosion and Deposition • Plate Tectonics • Volcanoes • Faults • Fossils
How will we be learning? • Labs- Science is hands on learning! • Group and Individual Projects • Reading and analyzing informational texts. • Cornell Note Taking • All work including tests will be kept in an Interactive Notebook. Students will need a new composition notebook each quarter.
Helpful Hints • All homework, bell work, daily instructions, and projects will be posted on my website. Homework and upcoming tests will also be posted on our team webpage. • Think about all your homework for the evening, and prioritize it. What must you absolutely do tonight? • You will have at least a week notice for all tests. Study 15 minutes each night and you will do great! • If you have any problems or questions ask your teachers.
