Transcripts • Do not detach your transcript from your forecasting form, as your teachers and counselors need to refer to this • Grad Requirements: Credit Summary • Work in Progress (WIP) • Do not sign up for a course you are in this semester, or you have already passed • Grad Requirements Test History: Essential Skills -Reading 236, Writing 40, Math 236 • Extended Application

  3. Procedures:Forecasting • Put career choice on back part of form • Select classes totaling 7 credits (this does not include Access Tutorial) • Choose 5 alternate electives • Course selections decide schedule and hiring • Schedule changes will only be considered for inappropriate class placement

  4. Language Arts • 4 credits required for high school graduation • Choose Lit & Comp 10 or Advanced American Lit. • You may choose to sign up for Adv. Amer. Lit. even if you did not take Adv. World Lit. • Colleges require: - College Prep Language Arts - Grades of C or better • Language Arts Electives (not LA credit): • Newspaper / Yearbook

  5. Social Science • 3 credits required for high school graduation • 10th grade options (not required) • AP European History • AP Comparative Government • Psychology (elective credit)

  6. Math • 3 credits required for high school graduation • 4 credits recommended for all students, especially those considering a math or science related career • Algebra Placement Test for current freshmen • Colleges only accept grades of C or better. • Success Seminar II will be added to your schedule if necessary (elective credit only)

  7. Science • 3 credits required for high school graduation • Minimum of 4 credits recommended for students considering a math or science related career • It is recommended that you complete: • 9th: Physics • 10th: Chemistry or STEM Chemistry (may consider taking AP Environmental Science in addition) • 11th: Biology or AP Biology • Advanced students: • 9th: STEM Chem • 10th: AP Biology • 11th; AP Physics • 12th: AP Chemistry

  8. PE/Health • 1 credit of Health required for high school graduation • Most sophomores will take Health 2 • 1 credit of PE required for high school graduation • Most sophomores will take PE2 (Aerobics, Team Sports, Strength Training & Conditioning) • Participation in sports or band will not satisfy PE/Health requirement

  9. World Language • Colleges require: - at least 2 credits of the same Foreign Language - Grades of C or better • Languages offered: French / German / Japanese / Spanish • Native Spanish speakers also have option of: - Spanish Literacy - Spanish Lit & Comp - AP Spanish

  10. Electives • Fill in your schedule with electives that interest you • Add up your credits where you have placed a check mark, and subtract from 7 to find out how many electives you need • Choose five alternate classes (rank them 1-5)

BSD Partial Day Options • Auto Mechanics (year-long, 1.5 credits) • Application required • Placement test required • Wed, March 19, 7pm, AHS Auto Classroom • Thu, March 20, 7pm, AHS Auto Classroom • Health Careers (year-long, 1.0 credits) • Concurrent enrollment of Human Anatomy/Physiology required • Application & Orientation night required • Wed, April 3 at Westview, 7-8:30pm in Auditorium • Thu, April 4 at Beaverton, 7-8:30pm in Auditorium • Field Biology & Sustainable Foods (year-long, 2.0 credits) • Application required • 1.0 Biology credit, 1.0 Applied Arts credit

  12. Sophomore Year College Planning • Start researching scholarships! • AHS College & Career Center Facebook Page • AHS Scholarship website • Visit colleges! • Budget Reduction Days • Spring Break • Summer Break

  13. Timeline • Teachers will address course recommendations in classes this week • Forms will be collected in the Commons on March 4 & 6 (Mon/Wed) during Access Tutorial
