  1. Expository Writing The purpose of expository writing is to explain a topic in a logical and straightforward mannerbased upon real world facts.

Expository Essay Structure In 8th grade English an expository essay is 3 paragraphs Paragraph 1 This is an introductory paragraph that contains the presentation of the topic and thesis statement. Paragraph 2 This is the body of the essay, it must provide at least 3 facts that support the thesis statement. Paragraph 3 This paragraph restate the thesis statement and ties together the major points of the essay.

  3. Types of Expository Writing In 8th grade English we use 4 types of expository writing Definition Explains the meaning of a concept or subject. This type of writing should describe the literal meaning of the topic and the meaning of any associations the subject brings to mind. Cause and Effect The writer identifies a clear relationship between two subjects, focusing on why things happen (causes) and/or what happens as a result (effects).

  4. Types of Expository Writing How-to This writing explains a procedure, step-by-step process, or how to do something with a main goal of instructing the reader. Comparison Contrast Describe the similarities and differences between two or more subjects. Comparison tells how these topics are alike and contrast shows how they are different.

A good starting point is narrowing down the type car you want or need. Once you’ve settled on the basic vehicle, do some research to find out which vehicles have good reliability ratings. The next step is finding the model you are looking for. When you track down the perfect car, the last step is the test drive and inspection. If the car drives well and looks good, arrange to have your mechanic inspect it. Never omit this step. After your mechanic gives the car the OK, all that’s left is to haggle over the price.

Chinese differs from English in several ways, and these differences make learning English difficult. First, the most complex difference is the word order. For example, in English, a greeting is ‘How are you?’ but in Chinese, the same greeting is ‘You are how?’ Beside this important difference, Chinese and English have many small differences. Chinese, for instance, does not distinguish between ‘he’ and ‘she’, as there is in English, which can be embarrassing. For these reasons, many Chinese born students make errors in their spoken and written English making it difficult to master.

Anger is one of our basic emotions and can be dangerous if it is not carefully controlled. A person can become angry when he cannot fulfill a basic need or desire that is important to him. Mentally, anger can interfere with our thoughts, making it difficult to think clearly. Physically, it may cause violent reactions in the muscles and in the nervous system. This causes an angry person to flush and tremble and to show other signs of disturbance. A person can be dangerous if he is in an angry mood because he can develop feelings of hostility and hatred toward another person, which can then often turn physically violent.

In recent decades, cities have grown so large that now most of the Earth's population lives in urban areas. There are several reasons for this occurrence. First, the increasing industrialization of the nineteenth century resulted in the creation of many factory jobs, which tended to be located in cities. These jobs, with their promise of a better material life, attracted many people from rural areas. Second, there were many schools established to educate the children of the new factory laborers. The promise of a better education persuaded many families to leave farming communities and move to the cities. Finally, as the cities grew, people established places of leisure, entertainment, and culture, such as sports stadiums, theaters, and museums. For many people, these facilities made city life appear more interesting than life on the farm, and therefore drew them away from rural communities.
