GOAL 1 • Position the Alliance to meet the present and future demands for life long learning
Objective • To provide regional and local leadership institutes
Action 1 • The HBCU Alliance will develop and implement an ongoing leadership succession program
Action 2 • Identify regional trainers from previous participants in leadership institutes.
Goal 2 • Create an on-going awareness that communicates the Alliance as the PREMIER HBCU information resource.
Objective • Promote the visibility of the HBCU Library Alliance on a national scale to multiple audiences.
Action 1 • Develop a variety of tools to communicate and promote the resources of the Alliance Libraries to students, utilizing the creation of student links on websites, informational brochures and the incorporation of the Alliance libraries resources into instructional sessions.
Action 2 • Create opportunities for an annual presence at National HBCU conferences, meetings & events, including the submission of papers & posters on the digital library initiative to increase visibility.
Goal 3 • Build and sustain a fiscally sound organization.
Objective • Explore partnerships, collaborations, and opportunities to sustain existing & future programs & services to member libraries and increase membership enrollment from 60-75 institutions by 2008.
Action 1 • Encourage 100% financial participation by all HBCU Alliance members through the development of quarterly communications to Provosts, Presidents, Deans and Directors, highlighting Alliance accomplishments, milestones and testimonials of participation to indicate the value of the Alliance.
Action 2 • Continue to solicit internal funding using surveys to pinpoint reasons members don’t pay dues, published membership benefits, advertise registration incentives and focus on the need to display significant internal funding to attract external funding.
