TOURISM “Tourism comprises the activities of persons travelling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business, and other purposes not related to the exercise of an activity remunerated from within the place visited.” World Tourism Organization www.unwto.org

  3. TOURISM • The WTO employs three criteria to determine if a trip is tourism: • Displacement – normally transport is involved • Purpose – you are not going to receive payment • Duration – maximum stay: one year
