  1. PRAY: Tallassee

  2. PRAY: Tallassee The Tallassee Ministerial Alliance is asking each church in the Tallassee area to take from one week to one month to emphasize extraordinary prayer for the salvation of the lost and for the spiritual vitality (revival) of the Lord’s people.

  3. 5 Principles of PRAY: Tallassee • Unity of Purpose • Extraordinary Prayer • Diversity of Approaches • Autonomy of the Churches • Continuousness Praying Throughout the Year

  4. Unity of Purpose • This prayer effort concerns the spiritual condition of our community • Salvation of the lost • The spiritual vitality (revival) of the Lord’s people • The glory of Jesus Christ in this place!

  5. “‘Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.’ Then the fire of the LORD fell…” I Kings 18:37-38

  6. Extraordinary Prayer Prayer Beyond the Ordinary • Engaging in real and specific prayer • Prayer vigils in the worship center or prayer room • PrayerWalking neighborhoods • Cottage Prayer Meetings—each with a specific prayer focus • Solemn Assembly worship services • Special Prayer Focus in midweek services

  7. Extraordinary Prayer Prayer Beyond the Ordinary • Devotional guides to provide guidance for specific prayer • Praying through the telephone directory or school year book • Concerted prayer for the signature ministry of the church • Following up the prayer emphasis with revival services – or using revival services as a kickoff to the prayer emphasis

  8. Diversity of Approaches • Pick and choose what fits your church • Try to stretch yourselves • Booklet is to get your creative juices flowing • Feel free to use anything in the booklet as is • Change and adapt the ideas in the booklet • Add your own ideas • More at: www.fbctallassee.com/month_of_prayer.html

  9. Autonomy of the Churches • No one will tell your church when to pray • No one will tell your church how to pray • No one will tell your church to say when you pray

  10. Continuousness Praying Throughout the Year The Goal is to Have Congregations Engaging in Special Prayer Efforts in Different Months Throughout the Year

  11. Reasons to Give God Time to Answer Our PrayersWesley Duewel, Mighty Prevailing Prayer • Sometimes demonic resistance delays God’s answer until you and heaven prevail • Sometimes it takes time for separate parts of complex situations to fit together Mighty Prevailing Power, Wesley Duewel, Pages 150-155

  12. Sometimes it takes time for God to coordinate circumstances to bring pressure on a person to be will to do what God want him or her to do • Sometimes, it takes time for God to prune things from your own life things that are hindering your prayer • Sometimes time is needed for the cumulative effect of a great massing of prayer Mighty Prevailing Power, Wesley Duewel, Pages 150-155

  13. “There is a cumulative effect in prayer” – J. Oswald Chambers Quoted in Mighty Prevailing Power, Wesley Duewel, Page 153

  14. When a dam is constructed in a mountain valley, its construction may take many months. Then the water begins accumulating behind the dam. But when the water level reaches the right height, the sluice gates are opened, water begins to turn the generators, and there is tremendous power. Mighty Prevailing Power, Wesley Duewel, Page 152

  15. As more and more people unite in prayer or as the prevailing person prays on and on, it seems as if a great mass of prayer is accumulated until suddenly there is a breakthrough and God’s will is accomplished. Mighty Prevailing Power, Wesley Duewel, Page 150-155

  16. Sometimes the answer is delayed because Satan is so entrenched Mighty Prevailing Power, Wesley Duewel, Page 152

  17. Sign Up Today or Call In Later • One Week • Two Weeks • A Month • 40 Days • Youth groups could help with summer months • Goal is to cover 2010, but some churches may wish to get started now
