Fish Bowl • Participants in the fishbowl have an opportunity to share experiences, ideas, and reflections. • Observers of the fishbowl discussion have an opportunity to gain insights, form opinions, and generate questions. • Everyone has an opportunity to develop a higher awareness of the competencies and an increased understanding of various experiences and viewpoints. 4

  5. Fish Bowl Norms • Audience observes during the dialogue being carried on in the fish bowl. • Audience may record questions to be asked of the fish bowl group at the end of the session. • Thank you for your cooperation. 5

The Fish Bowl Task • Read over your Working Systemically Competencies handout and reflect on the following: • What competences were successfully established in Phases I–III? • What competences were more challenging? • What are the implications for you as a facilitator for the development of thecompetencies in Phase IV? 6

  7. The Fish Bowl Task (continued) 2. Fish bowl members discuss the issues while others listen. 3. Facilitator will ask for additional comments and/or questions from audience. 7

Reflection Individually, reflect on the activity. • How did this activity deepen your understanding of the importance of developing the competencies in the WS approach? • What support will you need in order to help your districts in the development of the competencies in the WS approach? Be ready to share your reflection. 8
