Purpose • This class will give you all the information needed to pass written portion of your state exam. • It will also cover a wide range of information needed to be the best driver possible. • The class will give you real life scenarios that will only help you when you reach your goal and get behind the wheel of a car.

Graduated Driver License Laws Attitudes Accident Causation Alcohol, Drugs & Driving Natural Laws Safety Belts & Airbags Traffic Signs & Road Markings Motor Vehicle Laws Point System Defensive Driving IPDE Process City, Highway & Night Driving Driving in Adverse Conditions Emergency Situations Insurance Car Maintenance Overview of the Course Topics

  4. Grading • Tests and Projects = 40 % • Final Exam (State Test) = 20% • Quizzes = 20 % • Class Participation/HW =20% • Late Work will lose points and work not turned in will be worth a 0

  5. Expectations • Arrive to class on time – Students that are late will be given a warning 1st time and will lose points for every offence afterwards. • Be prepared – Have drivers manual, notebook, folder and pen or pencil everyday. Be ready to take notes everyday. • When you miss class be sure to ask what was missed. Also, check the Message Board on my Website. • Every class is worth 10 points just like gym if you are on time, prepared, and follow rules you will get a 10 for participation that day.

  6. Class Rules • Be respectful to students and teacher – Although we have fun in the Gym we must now follow classroom rules. • You may only leave for the lav when given permission by the teacher. 1 person at a time. • One person speaks at a time unless there is a discussion or debate. Therefore, Raise Your Hand. • No Cheating will be tolerated • Agenda books needed in order to leave • Sit in assigned seat and be prepared to move chairs periodically • Students not following rules will lose points or will be given a teacher detention

  7. A Normal class looks like… • Bell • “Do Now” on the board – Attendance • Check any HW or talk about the Reading (maybe pop quiz) • Lecture or Discussion • Classwork • Wrap-up & assign HW (sometimes can be finished in class) • Bell

  8. Go work • Now I will pass out Manuals to each student • Sit quietly • When you get it start to look through the topics
