High School Attendance • Absences are PER class period, not day • A student shall lose credit for absences beyond six (6) unless the student: • makes up all work required by the teacher • completes the semester with a passing average (not counting the final exam grade) • makes a grade of 70 or higher on the final exam.

  6. Typical 9th Grade Schedule • English 1 • Foundations of Math 1 • Math 1 • Earth/Environmental Science • World History • Health/P.E. • Elective • Elective

  8. Course Credit & GPA Students earn a credit for each course passed 6 = Sophomore13 = Junior20 = Senior

  9. Honors, AP and CCP • Honors- (9th-12th grade): A=4.5 weighted • AP- (10th, 11th and 12th grade): A=5.0 weighted • Wilkes Community College’s Career and College Promise Transferrable (11th and 12th grade): A=5.0 weighted

Stay connected with us!!! • Call and/or email your student’s teachers first when questions or concerns arise • Update demographic information as soon as possible if it changes • Come out in support of your students and East Wilkes High School for athletic events, College Information nights, Elective Showcase, etc.
