Overview of the new 2014 National Curriculum • Expectations have been raised with some objectives moving into lower year groups • Introduction of new objectives • Science is now a core subject again (along with Maths and English) with a focus on the five lines of enquiry, practical science and using the outdoor environment • ICT is now called Computing and children should be able to code, programme and sequence by the end of Key Stage two

  4. English • SPAG testing introduced two years ago • Statutory spellings for years 3-6 • Spoken language has new emphasis – in order to write properly, children have to be able to speak properly (Ofsted) • Classic English literature is now part of the curriculum (Take A Book) • Poetry reciting
