Questions for my Japanese partners. Question 1: History. We’ve learned a lot from our history textbook about the time when Japan took over Taiwan many years ago. I’m wondering if your history textbook introduced anything about that period of time and what it said.

  2. Question 1: History • We’ve learned a lot from our history textbook about the time when Japan took over Taiwan many years ago. • I’m wondering if your history textbook introduced anything about that period of time and what it said. • And do you know anything about that?

  3. From Taiwan • 1. You stole Taiwan from China. I feel you have a good leader and political system so that you came from a very weak country and turned into a strong country. Anyway I feel your government pull every citizen together. (冠鋐) 2. Japanese government made a lot of efforts to rule Taiwan. (楊耀毓) 3. I wanted to know about historical events at that time. (仕綸) 4. I learned from our textbooks that you took over our country because you wanted to conquer Asia and you needed a place for agriculture and resources. But I wonder what your textbook say and what your teachers teach you about that part of history? (王?綸) 5. I want to know about the history when Japan took over Taiwan. (王毓寬) 6. It’s no fair!! (楊雅旭)

From Japan • *In elementary school students know only that Atomic bombs were fallen in both Nagasaki and Hiroshima during world war second.Teachers teach that Japanese soldiers attacked south of Asia, not using exactly name "Taiwan"*My great grandfather was killed at north of China during world war second. My great grandmother was only 30 at that time. She took care of my grandmother by herself. My grandmother had a very hard life.  So I think we should not have wars anymore. Everybody feel sad, lonely, and hard times.*In Junior high school textbook only said that in 1874, Japanese solders were sent to Tainan, Taiwan from May 6 to June to attack. Because in 1871, some people in Okinawa drift to Tainan in a boat, 54 of them were cut their neck by knives there. (By Paiwan tribe??).

  5. Question 2: Anime Manga Festival •  I’m a big fan of Japanese comics and anime, and I would like to know more about your famous Anime Manga Festival. • Can you introduce some featured highlights of the festival? • And what festival is the most important one for you?

  6. From Taiwan •  I like Japanese comics very much because the characters in comics are very vivid. I enjoy reading comic books, and it is interesting to me.(胡育榕) •  I think Japanese comics and anime are so interesting. They are very vivid. Although I seldom read comic books, I still like Japanese comics and anime very much.  (蘇芳儀) •  Japanese comics and anime is wonderful and popular, and I like it very much.(解宗祐) •  Japanese comics and anime are very interesting.(徐詩涵) •  Japanese comics and anime are very famous.(徐子瑤) •  Japanese comics and anime are great. Sometimes they are interesting, sometimes are funny, and sometimes are touching.(梁葉云) •  I like anime very much and K-ON is my favorite..(陳妍蓁)

  7. I heard of it a lot because most people like it. (鄭羽娟) •  I really like to watch the anime on the television, and I also search some information about anime. (戴彣珊) • I like it because it is interesting to me.(林超純) • I know very little about it.(黃和亭) • I like Manga very much. I almost watch it every day.(劉育均) • I know a lot about comics and I love them very much. (王斯晴) 

  8. From Japan • One piece, pocket monster, Anpanman, Ultraman, Kochi-kame, Detective Konan, Dragon -ball Z Naruto, Doraemon,Crayon Shin-chan, Keroro are very popular comics  here. • We have a Jump festival here. We can buy goods that writers in Jump comic books sell their rare goods once a year.

  9. Question 3: What kind of Japanese food do you usually eat? •  Many people in Taiwan enjoy Japanese food a lot. We can eat sushi, hand-pulled noodles, raw fish and other kinds of Japanese food here in Taiwan. • I’m wondering what kind of food you usually eat in Japan.  

  10. From Taiwan • I think you eat cold rice and fish, and sometimes you eat ramen. Is it right? (林孟杰) • I usually eat hand roll sushi. (許哲豪) • I like to eat sushi, so I think you like it, too. (鄭勝銜) • We sometimes eat fried pork. I think it was from Japan. Do you often eat that there? (?文豪) • I like to eat sashimi sushi, especially salmon. It tastes very delicious. (戴勇誠)

  11. From Japan • (From Japan) *Miso-soup, hot taste lotus root, curry-rice, Oden, umeboshi-pickled ume, Tofu, Natoo-fermented soybeans, Rice cake, Rolled eggs, Grilled fish, Udon, Soba, ramen.

  12. Question 4: When do you wear a kimono? • We love your traditional clothes, kimonos. They are truly exquisite, unique find clothes. • I’m wondering when you will wear your own kimonos. • Normally on what occasions will you wear them?

  13. From Taiwan • We only know that you should wear your kimonos on special occasions like weddings and traditional festivals.

  14. From Japan • We wear Kimono (YUKATA-simple kimono) only summer festival. • *When we were 3.5.7 years old, we put gorgeous kimono and went to shrine with our family.

  15. Question 5: How many subjects do you have and what are they? • (From Taiwan)We have 11 subjects. They are Literature, Math, English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry, Civics and Moral values, History, Geography, Home economics and crafts, Music and Scout education. • (From Japan)We have 12 subjects. They are Japanese, Math, English, Science, social studies and Moral values,  Home economics, Art,  P. E ,Music and life course studies, Traditional Japanese culture,Calligraphy.
