  2. The Renaissance was a period of great artistic creativity. Leonardo da Vinci was one of the most famous artists of the Renaissance.

  3. During the Renaissance, artists began showing the world in three dimensions.

  4. Renaissance Art • During the Middle Ages, painting largely focused on religious themes. • During the Renaissance, artists showed more interest in ancient Greek and Roman classical art. • Painters sought greater realism in their art.

  5. Perspective is the ability to create a three dimensional appearance on a two dimensional surface.

  6. Features in Renaissance Art: • Perspective: 3D • Individualism: Artists created art through their feelings. • Balance and Proportion: Artists tried to show people, trees, buildings and mountains in their proper size.

  7. Activity: • As a class, we are going to discuss the features of some works of Renaissance art. • Afterwards, you are going to choose one work that are located on the blackboard and answer the questions on the handout. • This is counting as part of your midterm.
