  2. Step 1 Governments of the World • Earier, we learned about ten different types of government. Class representative, pick ten people to line up and speak. 1 6 _ 2 7 _ 3 8 _ 4 9 _ 5 10 _

Step 2 Explicit Vocabulary • Before we write anything down, I’d like to know what you came up with for definitions. • consent of the governed • permission to be ruled • from the people • by the government • rule of law • no one is above the law Please write down these exact definitions onto the back of the worksheet I am handing out now.

  5. Step 4 Rubric adjustment Have you ever given an oral presentation? What are you going to be graded on? What is the most important part of a presentation? Brainstorm with the people next to you only. I will call on people around the room to deliver what their neighbors think the class will be graded on.

  6. Step 4 Rubric adjustment This next paper tells you exactly how you will be graded on your oral report. There are a few choices we get to make along the way, so listen with your pencil out.

Step 5 Government of the United States • Please find your COMPARISON CHART paper. • With the help of the class representative, we are going to fill in the blanks for the United States. • We are going to avoid one word answers; add additional details if the answer seems to be one word. • Class representative, do not move on to the next box until you have a class consensus on an answer for the first box.

  8. Step 6Media Center Research Expectations • I will be putting you in groups shortly. • Once you have your country and your group, I will stop broadcasting to your computers. At that time, you will need to log out and move to be near your groups. • If I see that you are not focused on research, you will be reassigned to a new country for your report. • Your new assignment will be a solo report instead of a group report.

I will be calling on you one at a time to select your own group. There is a maximum of four people per group. If you are one of the first three people called, you can claim your country as a solo project.

  12. Step 10 Presentation Expectations In 10 minutes, I am going to call on the first group to come up and present. If you do not have your rubric paper, I cannot give you a grade on this presentation (in other words, you will get a zero). If you have lost your rubric paper, make a copy of someone’s.
