  5. Statistical data • Always quote where your statistics are from – give the website address • Consider ‘who’ published the information. Is there any bias? • Where were the statistics published? – a • newspaper maybe. But does the paper support a particular political party?......more biased data Statistics should be treated with caution

  6. How are you going to do P3? • You will need to explain the different patterns and trends in health and illness in social groupings identified according to factors such as gender, social class, geographical location, ethnicity and age.

  9. Choose 5 areas to compare: • Life expectancy • Risk of cancer • Infant mortality • Smoking • Alcohol use • Suicide rates • GP appointments • Hospital admissions • Heart disease

Use evidence to support your points • To illustrate your answers choose 5 of the areas on slide 7 to look at in more detail • You will use the key social areas to compare the 5 areas • Refer to statistical data from a range of sources to explain the patterns of health and illness. When quoting statistics you must clearly identify and reference reliable and up to date sources of data.
