  3. TIMEFRAME WP time frame as scheduled in the AF • WP duration: 20 months • WP starting date: September 2004 • WP ending date: April 2006

  4. PLANNED ACTIVITIES PROJECT CONCEPT Starting from the project idea designed to enhance the endogenousresources of alpine settlements, the Region of FVG, considering that such small administrations have difficulties in terms of size, financial capacity and professional skills, intends financing pilot studies and planning activities.

  5. PLANNED ACTIVITIES These activities foresee two different key studies: 1) guidelines for the recovery of abandoned areas in the neighbourhood of the borders with Austria and Slovenia ( involving the area of Tarvisio); 2) guidelines for obtaining the environmental certification (involving the area of Forni di Sopra), These activities should reach at least the level of a “pre-feasibility project”, including the project financing necessary to them actually being carried out.

  6. STEPS Key Study 1 • Preliminary analysis of the endogenous resources and of the existing potentialities connected to the recovery of the abandoned areas; • comparison of the ideas that have arisen at a local level together with the trans-national best practices concerning similar problems;

  7. STEPS • definition of guidelines, planning and pre-feasibility project for the recovery of dismantled areas and structures. The University of Udine (Department of Civil Engineering) will be appointed to carry out the guidelines and the pre-feasibility project.

  8. STEPS Key Study 2 • Preliminary analysis of the endogenous resources and of the existing potentialities connected to the enhancement of the natural landscape; • definition of guidelines in order to obtain environmental certification; • preparation and dissemination to Local Authorities of a special manual.

  9. PRESENTATION OF RESULTS • The presentation of WP7 results to the local authorities of the regional mountain areas will take place in May 2006. • The AlpCity outputs will be disseminated during the Summer, after the final general international conference of the project scheduled in June 2006.
