  3. About us • We are a group of teenagers from thesame class. Our interests are:civics, diplomacy, politics, English. We are friendly and we are looking for new friends from other countries.

  4. Poland • Adoption of Christianity by prince of PolandMieszko I. Traditional date of origin of Polish state.  • 1333-1370 - Kaziemierz III (the Great), reigns as one of Poland's most noted rulers. • 1410 - Forces of Poland-Lithuania defeat Teutonic Knights at theBattle of Grunwald (Tannenberg). • 1500-1600 - "The Golden Age" of Poland- Lithuania;theperiod when political stability, prosperity, and cultural achievement reach their peak.  • 1772 - Austria, Prussia, and Russia impose first partition of Poland. • 1791 - Constitution of May 3 restores hereditary monarchy and reforms political system.   • 1939 - World War II begins with September invasions of Poland by Nazi Germany and Soviet Union; Polish forcesaredefeated. Polish government-in-exile forms in London. • 1945 - Red Army liberates Polish territories and establishes communist-dominated coalition government.  

  5. 1970 - Strikes and demonstrations on Baltic coast, hundreds die shot by government forces.  • 1978 - Cardinal Karol Wojtyła, elected pope, takes the name John Paul II. • 1980 - Nationwide worker strikes culminate in occupation of Lenin Shipyard in Gdańsk; state authorities sign Gdansk Accords, acceding to striker demands. Birth of the Solidarity trade union.  • 1989 - Round Table talks produce formula for power sharing between communists and Solidarity; partly free elections result in victory of Solidarity movement; communist regime crumbles.  • 2004 - Poland becomes a member of the European Union.

Ourschool`spatron • He was born on 14th March 1794 in Tarnów. • At the age of 15 he joined the army of Duchy of Warsaw • commanded by JózefPoniatowski. • After school of Artillery and Engineering he became an officer. • He fought in several wars, for example in Gdańsk. • After that he became a teacher in some military schools and atthe same time he conducted experiments of missile artillery. • He published his workout in 1819.

  7. Ourschool patron • JózefBem came to Lwów and tried to create the army. After their failure he went to Vienna and to Hungary. There he was in command and hewas seriously wounded in the last pitched battle of the war. He won with Austrian. Because of that and few other war successes he was a very recognizable person in Hungary and other countries . He had his nick name "BemApó"
