1. Evaluation Question 1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge the forms and conventions of real media products?

Frame 3 The antagonist who is walking around the dark eerie part of the city is wearing all black with red trousers, the black because it’s more mysterious with a black hood so you can’t see his face and the red trousers which can represent blood. He picks up a bag which has been left for him, the audience can see this is an important part in the narrative and are left wondering what is in that bag and why it has importance. The antagonist who is the police officer is wearing a much more formal outfit with a shirt and tie to show he has an important job. We show a police badge which shows he works for the police, he is also holding a newspaper with a missing girl on the front; this then shows that the two people are linked. Frame 1 The title of the film is called ‘Hoodwink’ this means to ‘deceive or trick someone’. This fits in well with the narrative of our opening title sequence where a cop has secretly kidnapped a girl but would never be a suspect because he is also investigating the case. He also wears a hood when he is his alter ego. The title comes at the end of the opening title sequence, I think this is good because the music builds up and gets more intense as well as the opening title sequence gets quicker and the cuts get shorter and then the title comes in at the end dramatically. Frame 2 The setting/location of our opening title sequence is set in a city which is typical of a thriller, with loads of crime going on in a city. When the antagonist, is walking around he is in a more run down area of the city which gives the audience an on edge feel, the area seems dangerous which the feel we wanted from this location is. We then showed the antagonist in a nicer possibly safer part of the city to show the difference between the two.

3. Frame 4 For camerawork we used a lot of close ups of things that signify importance so for example we do close up on the bag that the antagonist picks up to show that it is relevant to the narrative, we also did close ups of the police badge so the audience get a clear understanding that the person is a police officer or works in the police force. We didn’t do any close up’s of the antagonists face because it keeps the mystery of who he is. Frame 5 For the title font we used a simple clear and bold font for the director, production company etc., and then for the main title ‘Hoodwink’ we used a more distinct style but quite plain so we could add effects on to it. Frame 6 The story is about a young female (early 20’s) who is also the ex-chief of police’s daughter, gets kidnapped by a man who is always wearing a hood. Two detectives are put on the case to find out who kidnapped her and where she is, but there is a twist because one of the detectives is actually the kidnapper so he ‘finds’ false clues and leads the other detective astray of where the actual clues are, and on top of pretending to be a detective he is also messing with the police by sending in videos of himself doing other crimes which frustrates the police even more. The opening titles suggest this storyline because we show two different people (or we make the audience think that) one of them is getting ready for work we put this across because he is in a shirt and tie and we also show his police badge which also tells the audience on his occupation. The second person we see is dressed all in black and takes a phone call from a phone booth; he then retrieves a bag from the stair well and walks off with it, over the top of this there is a radio report giving the audience information on the kidnapping.

4. Frame 7 The genre of this film is a crime Thriller. The OTS suggests this because even though the audience is given information like there is a kidnapping they are left quite in the dark on what is actually happening, all they see if two different people one of them getting ready for work and one of them acting suspiciously they just know that these two characters are linked somehow. We do things like close ups on a bag which leaves a sense of mystery and the audience asking questions as to what is in the bag and why is has importance. Frame 8 There aren’t really many introductions on characters the radio report introduces Emma Mitchell the girl who was kidnapped, you are kind of introduced to the two people in the OTS but you the audience does not have any information on them like names, what they look like etc, you just know that one of them works with the police.
