PUSD Belief Statements: what will today’s activity support? • “Students First” is the guiding principle for every student. • The AZ State Standards direct PUSD curriculum and instruction. • All students can learn and are held to high expectations. • Parental involvement is important in improving student achievement. • Communication b/t the community and the school is essential. • A highly trained and caring staff will have a positive impact in every child’s life. • All students are expected to become responsible and productive.

  3. When students are first, they are actively engaged in learning. Learner Engagement Belief Statements: • Active engagement is: the consistent mental engagement of the minds of most of the learners most of the time. • Steps to active engagement: • (P) Prompt for Engagement • (A) Insist on Engagement from All • (M)Make it Mandatory to Stay Engaged
