  2. I. INTRODUCTION Last week, we learned about reading God’s words. This week, we are going to learn about Prayer. What is prayer? Prayer is talking to God. God delights to listen to you because God is your Father and you are his child. Prayer is talking to him as you would talk to your earthly father. You can be honest with him and you can tell him about anything.

  3. II. HOW TO PRAY? We are going to learn to pray by using the PART format. i) ____ God at all times Praise The Bible tells us to praise God at all times — I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips (Psalm 34:1). At this time, we also enter into the very presence of God through worship and communion. We worship God for who He is and because He alone is worthy of our worship. In communion, we quiet our souls to hear God speak and to respond to Him.

  4. II. HOW TO PRAY? II) ______ to God your sins Commit The Bible tells us that when we hide our sins in our hearts, God will not hear us — If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened (Psalm 66:18). Repent from your sins and tell God sincerely that you are sorry for sinning against him, and he will certainly forgive you — If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). This will ensure that the communication line between you and God is always open.

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).

  17. IV. THE BENEFITS OF A DAILY QUIET TIME Besides helping us to build our relationship with God, a daily quiet time has other important benefits as well. 1. The Word of God renews your mind. Dr. William Backus, a Christian psychologist and ordained minister says, Thoughts and beliefs can make you sick ... especially thoughts that produce inner climates of anger, fear, discouragement, bitterness, jealousy, frustration, discontent, or resentment. That is because these negative patterns actually work to depress physiological processes, including the body’s immune response. And that is a formula for disaster. Daily Bible reading and meditation renews our mind with God’s Truth. A healthy mind contributes to a healthy body. The Bible tells us, Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).

  18. IV. THE BENEFITS OF A DAILY QUIET TIME Besides helping us to build our relationship with God, a daily quiet time has other important benefits as well. 2. Prayer reduces fear and tension Dr. Backus says this about prayer: Apart from the answer itself, the act of spending time praying will make an important contribution to health. “Calling on God” (a phrase used in the Psalms for prayer) leads to reduction of fear and tension, increased confidence, and the security of being close to One who is able to do anything. The Psalmist says; The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? (Psalm 118:6)

  19. IV. THE BENEFITS OF A DAILY QUIET TIME Besides helping us to build our relationship with God, a daily quiet time has other important benefits as well. 3. God’s presence rejuvenates us. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the LORD (Exodus 34:29). When we spend time alone with God each day, Others will see that we have been with Him.

  20. Memory Verse Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6
