  1. Back to 31 Rue Cambon -- The Analysis of Chanel Womenswear =

  2. Overview This year is the 18th year of CHANEL's launch conference for the Pre-Fall Metiersd' Art. For the past 18 years, Chanel has been traveling around the world and creating a series of ready-to-wear garments based on local culture and handicraft. Virginie Viard names the show as "31 Rue Cambon", a nod to 31 Rue Cambon in Paris where the founder, Gabrielle Chanel, starts the brand. And Virginie Viard works with Sofia Coppola to move the apartment's famous mirrored spiral staircase to the Grand Palais. Combining the design codes of Lady Coco and Karl Lagerfeld, the classic Lesage embroidered outerwear of Karl Lagerfeld in the 1966 A/W couture is reused in sets in this season, with retro painted pattern of Coromandel to create luxurious and noble clothing.

  3. Key Colors

  4. Key Colors In addition to classic black and white, there are pink, purple, orange and golden brown as main colors. Pink and orange, black and purple are combined to create the ombre color like sunset glow. And golden brown delivers a young rock feel.

  5. Key Fabric -- Pearl Satin Virginie Viard integrates her own features. The light and ethereal pearl satin is dominant because of its soft texture like the second skin. Classical white satin is added by subtle jacquard, quite charming.

  6. Key Fabric -- Luxury and Nobleness This season the fabric uses mysterious black as the ground, with sequins and gilding. Metallic fabric adopts 3D cutting and quilting to create neat and 3D outlines, bringing us back to the retro disco world.

  7. Key Pattern -- Sunset Glow The tie-dye brightens our eyes. Inspirations are from pink twill set with a tie-dyed lining in black, pink and purple. The set is created by Gabrielle Chanel in the 1960s, and similar set creates a luxurious and elegant vibe in this season. The combination of pink and orange is like the sunset glow on the ethereal fabric, while black works with purple to create modern and cool looks.

  8. Key Detail -- Splicing of Black and White

  9. Key Detail -- Splicing of Black and White For Chanel, black and white bring a modern vibe and visual tensile force, displaying its original intention of simplicity. The straight cutting on outerwear shows accurate and rigorous producing crafts. The pipping is symmetric.

  10. Key Detail -- Camellia As the soul element, camellia returns back to the ready-to-wear catwalks. This season camellia gets twisted and 3D hand-made by Lognon Maison. The outerwear takes on a white floral made of spun yarns, with precious embroidered stamen and pistil. The flower can be decorated to the neckline, the chest and cuffs singly or in cluster.

  11. Key Detail -- Gorgeous Decorations Luxurious hand-made embroidery is quite eye-catching. The gauze cape with golden fringes made by Lesage, and the black lace dress with colorful forals are symbols of Chanel. Golden sequins, beads and embroidery are paired with clothing, and the latter two elements remind of famous oriental style decorations in 31 Rue Cambon.
