history of handbags

from the inside out

A purse is essentially a pouch, and pouches have been used by man (and woman, of course) for as long as human memories have been recorded. Peasants in early rural societies used bags to carry seeds; African priests carried beaded bags; a painting dated 480 B.C. that now belongs to the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England, depicts a boy holding a "purse" filled with knucklebones, which were considered to be a token of seduction.

Coco Chanel

Gabrielle "Coco" Bonheur Chanel (19 August 1883 – 10 January 1971) was an influential French fashion designer, founder of the famous brand Chanel, whose modernist thought, practical design, and pursuit of expensive simplicity made her an important and influential figure in 20th-century fashion. She was the only fashion designer to be named on Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century.

Chanel meaning

name origin

Chanel as the girl's name is pronounced sha-NELL. It is of Old French origin, and the meaning of Chanel is "pipe". From a French occupational name and surname for pipe fitters and manufacturers. Contemporary usage may be due to the influence of the legendary fashion designer Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel (1883-1971), and a number of famous perfumes. Also the name of a 14th-century French missionary saint.

Chanel has 13 variant forms: Chanele and Shanelle.

Products Handbags

At the commercial presentation of the Chanel handbag of classic design (and greatest popularity), the press mistakenly identified it as the 2.55 handbag, instead of having identified it as the Timeless CC handbag. The differences in product design, materuals, and manufacture, between the 2.55 and the Timeless CC handbags, are different locks and leathers; the 2.55 handbag is made of creased leather, whilst the Timeless CC handbag is made of smooth leather. Moreover, the carrying chain of the 2.55 handbag is made of links of matte-finish metal, whilst the chain of the Timeless CC handbag is made of gloss-finish metal links through which a leather strap is interlaced. The Timeless CC handbag is available in four sizes, the most popular is the second size of the range.

The shops

Worldwide, Chanel S.A. operates some 310 Chanel boutiques; 94 shops in Asia, 70 shops in Europe, 10 shops in the Middle East, 128 shops in North America, 2 shops in South America, and 6 shops in Oceania. The shops are located in wealthy communities, usually in department stores, shopping districts, and inside airports.

Chanel Handbag

The Original

Coco Chanel handbags are timeless pieces of art and style. The elegance of Chanel handbags can not be replaced by anything, and if you feel that a replica Chanel handbag comes even near to the original Chanel handbags, then you are severely mistaken:The quality and style of Coco Chanel can not be duplicated! This is the essence of style and any woman who knows only a little bit about fashion will immediately be able to tell when she is presented with replica Chanel handbags that are supposed to be authentic Chanel handbags.
