  1. ALL DØ meeting Agenda: * H. Weerts - Detector status on March 1 * B. Knuteson - Quaero * R. Partridge - Plans for Run 2B Future: we will try to change the time of this meeting to morning, so that Europe can attend by video !! ( January)

  2. State of DØ on March 1, 2001 or the next calendar year Very successful few days SMT-S “installed” Congratulations to SMT & install. group !! Trusses moving into collision hall Commissioning wrkshp. yesterday Congratulations to commissioning group !!

  3. History Set out a long time ago……… for Run 2a Last year: All parties involved (BD,CDF, DØ + FNAL, DOE) agreed: start on March 1, 2001 (lot of input from DØ) Balance two goals: • Make the March 1, 2001 date ( ready for beam) • Guarantee a detector that can do all the Run 2a physics ( not necessarily on March 1) Kept these goals and still in effect. Some consequences: • Develop fallback plans (just in case) • Emphasis on detector hardware completion • Redo installation schedule; with~2.5 months of contingency • Split silicon support cylinder

  4. Current status Status of experiment now Installation wise: • SMT-S installed • Fiber Tracker, south side waveguides installed, QC’ed and fixed: done • Muon: central in; forward A,C layers installed (B to go) • Preshowers, LØ, ICD all done • Front end electronics: incomplete Commissioning wise: • DAQ/trigger: functional but incomplete • Commissioning task difficult for people doing it • Workshop yesterday: • Readout SMT, CFT, CAL, MUON (all) • L1 muon triggers • Calibration done • Examine • Event display Impressive amount of progress over last months by many people in whole experiment. Recognized in Lehman review: “excellent” ! No descoping !

  5. Status for March 1, 2001 Projected state of DØ detector on March 1, 2001: Mechanically detector complete; electronically incomplete & not fully commissioned; remainder can be done in collision hall. but ready for beam Roll in date remains: ~Jan 15, 2001

  6. Projection & Goals for 2001 ~ March 1, 2001 rolled in Take data with all detectors, except preshowers …… ….. Need of order 6 weeks of integrated time Complete: electronics for front end, DAQ, trigger system Take date Alignment & calibration ~ May/June, 2001 Detector electronically complete ….. Improvements and learning ~ July, 2001 Start steady state physics data taking

  7. Conclusions • Impressive progress over last year • Many people worry about us compared to CDF: yes they are currently further along, thanks to beam commissioning • This is OUR experiment. We will make it work. Not always useful to compare to CDF. • It would be nice to be further along (…..) • Overall we are doing very well, parts coming together • Next few months will be very frustrating on a day-to-day basis, BUT progress measured on month timescale is very impressive. • Physics is waiting for us not just in 2001, but from 2001 on……… But have SMT in
