  2. Past Participles • To form the past participle of a verb in Spanish, you add -ado to the stem of -ar verbs and -ido to the stem of most -er/-ir verbs.

  3. Past Participles • “Past Participles” can be used as adjectives. • They must agree in gender and number with the nouns they describe.

  4. Past Participles • Cerrar – to close • La oficina está cerrada. • The office is closed.

  5. Past Participles • Perder – to lose • Nosotros estamos perdidos. • We are lost.

  6. Past Participles • Vestir – to dress • Carmen está bien vestida hoy. • Carmen is well dressed today.

  7. Past Participles • Notice that we place no and other negative words, object pronouns, and reflexive pronouns directly in front of the form of the verb estar.

  8. Past Participles • Cepillarse • El pelo se está cepillado . • Her hair is brushed. • El pelo nose está cepillado. • Her hair is not brushed.
