  2. "Takht" or "Takhata" literally means "throne" or "seat of authority." It is a direct result of the great historical growth of Sikhism, the main religion in the northern regions of India. But the Sikhs have made an impact not only in India but also throughout the world. Guru Hargobind established the first and most important one in the year 1609. It is called 'Akal Takht' (the Throne of the Timeless God) and is found across the entryway of Harmandir Sahib - the Golden Temple in Amritsar. www.sikhtours.in

  4. Akal Takht The most elevated mainstream seat of Sikhism was set up by the 6th Sikh expert Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji in 1609, helped by Baba Budha Ji and Bhai Gurdas. Guru named it Akal Takhat (The Throne of the Almighty). www.sikhtours.in
