My Avatar - Jarrod • In displaying the understanding and theory during growth and development, a young seven year old full indigenous male avatar has been created for the purpose of this assignment. The avatar, Jarrod, is from a low socio- economic single mother family whose main income is received from Centrelink. Jarrod has one other sister who is four years old. Since he was two years of age Jarrod was diagnosed with a mild case of asthma. The family resides in an aboriginal community within Coffs Harbour which is not too far away from Jarrod’s two uncles, one aunty and five cousins. Jarrod attends Coffs Harbour public school where he is in year two and has two main friends he interacts well with. He is picked up from school by his uncle who takes him back to his work. Jarrod tries hard at school but is easily distracted and finds difficulties in receiving good marks. Jarrod is very gifted in the sports field; taking up an interest in basketball, however, due to his families low economic situation he is unable to further expose his talent in an organised, affiliated club/ team. The characteristics of Jarrod include dark hair, dark eyes, dark skin, tall for his age (5^5), and skinny physique at 20kg. Some other interests would involve swimming at the local beach and riding his skateboard in the local skate park.
