Purpose & Methods • Purpose • To review the post-operative outcomes of patients undergoing presbyopic lens implantation in one or both eyes with the ReZoom, ReSTOR or crystalens intraocular lens. • Methods • A retrospective analysis was performed including all Minnesota Eye Consultants patients undergoing presbyopic lens placement after cataract surgery and/or clear lens extraction between the dates of 1/1/2004 and 12/31/2006.

Results • Overall Demographics • 231 eyes of 137 patients • 42% Males, 58% Females • Average age: 57.8 years • IOL Breakdown • ReZoom: 86 eyes (37%) • ReSTOR: 40 eyes (17%) • crystalens: 105 eyes (45%) • Indications for surgery • Cataract: 224 (97%) • Clear lens exchange: 6 (2.6%) • IOL Exchange: 1 (0.04%)

Conclusion • Presbyopic intraocular lenses offer the possibility of functional distance and near vision, without the use of glasses in many patients. • Preoperative counseling is important in setting appropriate expectations for the procedure, and additional effort in the preoperative and postoperative period is important in obtaining a good result.
