  2. Horse Names Foal - a baby horse less than a year old. Yearling - a young horse between the ages of one and two. Colt - a male horse less then four years old. Filly -a female horse less then four years old. Stallion - a male horse older than four years old. Mare - a female horse older than four.

Horse Colors • Bay is light reddish brown to dark brown with a black mane and tail and lower legs . • Chestnut is reddish color with no black • Grey is black skin but a mixed coat of white and black hairs . • Black is entirely black . • Sorrel is a type of chestnut with a very reddish coat . • Dun is a yellowish or tan coat. • Palomino is a light golden color . • Pinto is a multicolored horse with patches of red brown white or black.

  4. What do horses eat? Horses are grazing animals and mostly eat hay and grasses .They also like legumes like peas and beans and fruit such as apples and even carrots. Sometimes they are fed grains such as corn or oats.

  5. What is a pony? A pony is just a small horse. There are certain breeds of horses that are small and these are generally called ponies.

  6. Horse Facts Horses can sleep both lying down and standing up. There are about 60 million horses in the world. Horses have strong sleek bodies. Horses have keen senses. A horses group is called a band. A type of horse is about 16 hands high. A horses teeth can be used to estimate it’s age. The fastest recorded [55 mph].
