Introduction TaskProcessEvaluationConclusion Introduction With the surge of new technology available to use in your classroom, it could leave one very confused about what is the best tool for your students. The Interactive Whiteboard (IWB), is one of these new technologies, IWB’s are increasingly becoming more visible in American classrooms. But what is the true value of these boards in the learning process? The following web quest is designed to try and answer these questions. What is an Interactive Whiteboard? He has come to you wanting to get your opinion on interactive whiteboards. Your principal has asked for your help to determine if he should purchase a board for your school, and what type of board he should purchase. • Your task is two fold: • Determine if your school should purchase an interactive board. • Determine the type of interactive whiteboard that should be purchased.

IntroductionTask Process EvaluationConclusion Process • In your group of four, you will work in two teams to investigate Interactive Whiteboards (IWB). • Each team will take one of the designated roles to determine the answers and then report back to the other group members. • While you are compiling your information, each team member may want to take notes in the same software program (Inspiration, PowerPoint, or Word). • When you discuss as a group place all of your information into one document (this can be achieved by emailing one person your findings). It should include the following: • Determine if you believe your principal should purchase a IWB • Pros/Cons of Interactive Whiteboards • Determine which board should be purchased • Compile a list of useful resources that could be used within a classroom • Click on your role to begin.

You will not find the prices of the boards on the websites, so you will have to base your decision on looks and accessories. Understanding that while there are many benefits to these boards, we do face the need for more fiscal resources and teacher education before they can be fully placed into a classroom. Maybe you will ask your principal if (s)he has any extra money in their budget?!
